Prototyping and creating your Raspberry Pi projects are a lot easier with breakout boards!
You may be familiar with through-hole components that can be quickly and easily plugged into a breadboard. With the arrival of SMD (Surface Mount Device) or SMT (Surface Mount Technology) based components, though, interfacing them with a breadboard is tedious. With a breakout board, this isn't a problem.
These are pieces of printed circuit boards with electronic sensors, integrated circuits (ICs) and other components with interfacing terminals. It is generally of a small form factor, with clear pin labels, and "breaks out" pins that are spaced perfectly for a solderless breadboard or connected to a Raspberry Pi's GPIO pins!
We have a range of breakout boards that are compatible for use with the Raspberry Pi.
