The Raspberry Pi TV HAT is now available! It's a DVB-T2 Digital TV receiver add-on compatible with Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ and Raspberry Pi Zero W (including older Raspberry Pi 2 & 3 models). With this TV HAT, you can now receive digital terrestrial TV broadcast systems, including DVB-T and DVB-T2, on your Raspberry Pi.
Not only can you view TV on your Raspberry Pi, but you can also create a TV server that streams received TV over a network to other devices such as PCs, tablets, smartphones (via apps), media centers, and more.
While the TV HAT can be used on all Raspberry Pi boards as a backend (server for other devices on the network), it is recommended to use a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ (or older Raspberry Pi Model 3) for direct TV reception and viewing.
The TV HAT features a Sony CXD2880 TV tuner that supports DVB-T and the second generation DVB-T2 TV standards. To help you get started, we've included a set of mechanical spacers, 40 way GPIO header, and aerial adaptor, as well as a clear and easy-to-follow step-by-step guide for assembly, installation, and configuration. We've even written a tutorial on how to get the Raspberry Pi TV HAT working with Plex!
Please note that digital video broadcast (DVB) is a widely adopted standard for transmitting broadcast television. It's your responsibility to ensure that you have the necessary permissions/license to receive broadcast television in your country.
