This easy-to-assemble shield is designed to snap onto the Pi B+ main board assembly, giving you a range of prototyping options to build with.
The prototyping area is split into two parts - a 'breadboard' style and a 'perfboard' style - allowing you to wire up DIP chips, sensors, and other components. The GPIO/I2C/SPI and power pins are broken out to 0.1" strips for easy connection. There are also labeled 2.5mm screw-terminal blocks along the edges to make semi-permanent connections to sensors, LEDs, and more. Lastly, there's an SOIC surface mount chip breakout area for chips that don't come in DIP format.
