Great kit to get you startedBy: Matt Sharp on 20 April 2019I'm new to Raspberry Pi so naturally you would think I would go for the beginner kit. My advice to anybody new is to look at the kit contents and consider "What is it you want to do with your Raspberry Pi?". In my case, I need to design some software in Python, then I need to use a laser tripwire style sensor for starting and stopping a stopwatch running on a Pi. This kit gives you everything you need to plug it into the mains, plug it into a HDMI tv and get it up and running. It also has the breadboard so when I am ready to start learning the electronics it is all there. The only thing I had to buy extra was a bluetooth keyboard/touchpad combo (by the way, my logitech keyboard simply plugged and played). The pi connects to the internet via wifi no worries. This kit is well put together...... maybe a micro card bigger than 16GB would be nice. Like any computer stuff, I am going through some ups and downs learning the ropes with Linux and Python. Updating, upgrading and configuring the apps can be a real headache with Linux. For some reason, Geany works with an older version of Python and when I try to get it to work with Python 3 it wont. That has nothing to do with the actual STEM kit though, which is brilliant!
